Little League International pays for 125 free background checks for each local league and district annually. The background checks are reset each year as of October 1. The provider of background check screening services for Little League. is JDP. JDP has access to more than 600 million records, including criminal records and sex offender registry records across 50 states and the District of Columbia.
As of October 1, 2026 JDP and Sports Connect, the official league technology provider of Little League® Baseball and Softball (formally Blue Sombrero) have integrated their technologies to make the volunteer registration process easier by including the ability to conduct national background checks on local and district volunteers.
Leagues will be charged $1.50 per JDP background check over the 125 free background checks. JDP background checks are to be conducted annually for anyone volunteering in addition volunteers will need to complete the Little League Abuse Awareness training.
