Little League Majors - Historical Reference

History of California District 54 Little League: 

  • District 5 was created in 1958 as one of the original 33 California districts. In 1966, District 54 was spun off from District 5.

  • District 6 was created in 1958 as one of the original 33 California districts.

  • District 7 was created in 1958 as one of the original 33 California districts. 

  • District 11 was created in 1958 as one of the original 33 California districts.

  • In 1966, District 52 was created as a spin-off from District 11.

  • District 54 was created in 1966.  It was comprised of teams that previously competed in District 5.

  • In 1992, District 11 was split off from District 54.

  • In 1984, the original District 11 was dissolved, and its leagues were placed in Districts 44 and 52.

  • In 1992, District 11 was re-created as a spin-off of District 54.

  • As of 2025 there are 73 Districts in California

  • We are Section 4 in Northern California and one of seven (7) sections in Nor Cal 

  • Southern California has ten (10) sections

  • Divisions of play for all-stars District tournament > Section tournament > State > Regional Tournament > World Series
